Terms of use

1. The app

Reel is a media player made by dripster82 ("the developer"). It plays video files that you own or have the right to play, from storage that you control. By installing or using Reel you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. Your content

Reel does not provide, host, index or recommend any media. Everything it plays comes from sources you add. You are responsible for having the right to store and play the files you use with Reel, and for complying with the laws that apply to you. The developer has no access to your files and no knowledge of what they are.

3. Third-party services

Reel can fetch titles, artwork, episode details and subtitles from third-party services, including The Movie Database (TMDB), fanart.tv, TheTVDB, OpenSubtitles, AniDB and Anime-Lists. Their content belongs to them and their contributors and is subject to their own terms. The developer does not control those services, which may change or stop at any time. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

Where you add your own key or account for a service, you are responsible for complying with that service's terms.

4. iCloud sync

Sync uses your own iCloud account and Apple's CloudKit service, subject to Apple's terms. The developer cannot see, recover or repair data in your private iCloud database.

5. Licence

The developer grants you a personal, non-transferable licence to use Reel on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store terms. The app includes VLCKit, which is licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License 2.1 and linked dynamically; its licence and source are listed in Settings → About → Licences.

6. No warranty

Reel is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. Playback of any given file, format or server is not guaranteed. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of the app, including loss of data.

7. Changes and termination

The developer may update the app and these terms. Continued use after a change means you accept it. You may stop using Reel at any time by deleting it.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Nothing in them affects rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded.
